TH22 Gas Turbine Engine

Using the TH22 the behaviour of a jet turbine can be studied. Jet turbines are used on aircraft for propulsion due to their low weight and their high performance. The gas turbine in the TH22 is a single-shaft jet engine with radial compressor and axial turbine. Compressor and turbine are of single-stage design. A transparent protective cover enables the intake volumetric flow rate to be measured using a measuring orifice. The thrust force is measured using an electronic force sensor. The turbine is started fully automatically with the aid of an electric starter. The unit can operatestand alone operation: acquired data shown digitally on the graphic screen of HMI (Human Machine Interface), as well as transfer data to PC by using an optional software and serialcable.

Range of Experiment

- Determination of the thrust

- Determination of the specific fuel consumption

- Determination of system efficiency

- Determination of the air fuel ratio
